Exploring My Second Soul

Spring is here!  Can you feel it?  As the days grow longer and the sunlight stronger, so many wonderful and amazing opportunities are sprouting from the seeds of intention that were planted over the past few months.  My Year of Divine Timing continues to unfold in magical ways, and this past month it’s been all about exploring new places!

The first week of March, I had the extreme privilege of spending a week in Sebastian, Florida studying Bhakti Yoga and Kirtan with David Newman Durga Das.  The week was a journey of love through music, and I left the training more sure than ever that I am here on this earth to make music.  I also had the opportunity to learn to play several new instruments – the harmonium (Universe, I would like a harmonium, please!), the cajon (an amazing box drum), and the kartals (eastern bells).  That’s me, jamming on the cajon at left!

Since returning from Florida, I’ve been gratefully sharing all that I learned about Bhakti Yoga and the ancient vibrational healing practice of chanting in a new weekly Chanting Class that I’m teaching at Moksha Yoga in Lakeview.  We meet every Tuesday at 1:15 in the afternoon, and I invite anyone and everyone interested in learning more about this practice to join us!

Guatemalan spring in full bloom

Next, I was off to Guatemala for a week of adventure!  I’m a huge language nerd, so I had been practicing mi español for months leading up to the trip.  Wow, I’d forgotten how exhausting it is to “exist” in a foreign language 24/7…but also how incredibly rewarding and fun it is once you start thinking (even dreaming) in a new language.  Over the course of the week, I got to tour the capital city, shop the markets, run and hike in the mountains, and experience more beautiful vistas than I can count.  I cannot wait to return to Guatemala!

The Last Rider VO

Getting back in the saddle

Back in the US = Back to Work!  Immediately upon returning to Chicago I went into the studio to record ADR narration for The Last Rider.  This is exciting, because it means that the film is almost complete!  I got to watch the final cut as we recorded, and the cinematography is more beautiful than I could have imagined.  Stay tuned for screening details…coming soon.

Now it’s your turn!  What seeds are you planting in the garden of your life this spring?  What tender green shoots are already sprouting up out of the warming earth?  Where do you want to focus your attention and what do you want to nurture to grow this year?

Spring is the perfect time to pause and mindfully re-engage your energy.  If you would like to dive deeper into unearthing, exploring and following those things that truly light you up, check out my new coaching program here.  I’d love to work with you!
